Due to the reduction of patients coming to the hospital during the pandemic period, the routine activities of the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) AKTH chapter have reduced drastically only two (2) to three (3) requests for assistance are being received daily instead of ten (10). This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Association, Dr Anas Ismai in an interview.
He said the Association has worked during the Covid-19 pandemic in producing and distributing about 500 cloths face mask and hand sanitizers to the highest number of COVID 19 case areas in Kano State.
He added that a total number of 290 hand sanitizers, disinfectants and soaps were donated to the hospital through the Infections Control Committee (ICC).
Similarly, sister organization like Dala Orthopaedic, Hasiya Bayero Paediatric, Murtala Muhammad Specialists, Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase and Infectious Diseases Hospitals (IDH) all benefitted with such consumables to help in curtailing the spread of the pandemic.
Finally, the hospital benefitted from buses made available to transport AKTH staff to the hospital “to and fro” during the lockdown days.
