National Board Technical Education(NBTE) in collaboration with Laundary and Dry Cleaning services of Aminu Kano Teaching hospital will hold a 5days workshop in National curriculum development for National Diploma in Laundary and Dry Cleaning Technology from 1st-6th July 2019.


In compliance with the requirements of the Public Procurement Act 2007 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano hereby invites interested, competent and reputable supply companies with relevant experience, requisite expertise and good track record for timely delivery of projects to tender for the execution of the following project.


People living with sickle cell anaemia may be exempted from the Ramadan Fasting. This was disclosed by a Guest Lecturer, Prof. Sagir Ahmad, Consultant Haematologist with the Department of Haematology, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Bayero University Kano during the 2019 Pre-Ramadan Lecture organized by the “Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) of the Hospital titled “Islamic and Medical Perspectives of Fasting among Pregnant/Breast Feeding Mothers and Sickle Cell Anaemia”.

Professor Sagir said due to physioanatomical structure of sickle cell patients, it will be very difficult for the patients to partake in fasting.

He added that, sickle cell patients who feel they have the strength and energy to fast can do so and should not hesitate to break it when their energy starts dropping or feel they cannot go further.

At their separate lectures, Prof. Jamilu Tukur, Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecologist, BUK/AKTH and Malam Aminu Umar, Chief Procurement Officer and the Imam, Administration Mosque said pregnant and nursing mothers should fear Almighty God in decision on whether to partake or not in the Ramadan Fasting as each and every individual knows the limit she can go when it comes to fasting.

Prof. Jamilu Tukur further said, there is little or no significant decrease in milk production when a mother is fasting and as such encourages nursing and pregnant mothers to partake in Ramadan Fasting.

On their part, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof.  Lawal Umar Muhammad, HOD Community Medicine BUK/AKTH and Ameer of the Hospital’s IMAN Chapter, Dr. Anas Ismail, Consultant Radiologist, discussed the medical and physical benefits of Ramadan Fasting.


The Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria (SCIAN), Kano State Chapter has encouraged its members to partake in the fasting of the Holy month of RamadanAssociation disclosed this during its Pre-Ramadan lectures organized by SCIAN Kano State Chapter at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano

Dr. Abubakar implore the spinal cord injury patients to put the fear of Almighty God first and urged them to always consult their Doctors and Physiotherapist when it comes to do with health, adding that patients who feel that they can perform the Ramadan Fast without any health problem can do so and those that cannot should not partake in it.

On his part, a medical guest lecturer and physiotherapist with the Bayero University Dr. Abubakar Sabo Yusha’u, Associate Professor with the Department of Islamic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Kano and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Dr. Isah Usman Lawal said it is healthier for spinal cord patients to fast if they can as it has medical benefit to the patients.

Eighteen (18) members of the Association received award of certificate for completion of Agricultural/Livestock training from officials of the Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology, Kano where the School Management promised to assist SCIAN members with more free training and ways to obtain agricultural loans from Central Bank of Nigeria.
